MEET SCOTT
ROBERTSON.

FOUNDER, PROFESSIONAL DRUMMER, AND DEDICATED EDUCATOR.
scott

Scott Robertson is the founder and lead instructor of Robertson Drum School, and he has lived and breathed music since childhood.

Picking up his first pair of drumsticks at the age of ten, Scott quickly discovered that rhythm was more than just a hobby—it was his calling. Over the years, that passion grew into a career that has taken him from classrooms to recording studios to venues across BC and beyond. As a performer, he has played everything from jazz clubs and rock venues to big band concerts and jazz festivals. As an educator, he has spent decades helping students of all ages unlock their potential behind the drum kit. For Scott, teaching is about more than technique—it’s about sharing the joy of music, building confidence, and inspiring creativity in every student he works with.

 SCOTT'S PROMISE TO HIS STUDENTS.

Students come to Robertson Drum School for many reasons—some want to learn their first instrument, others want to refine their skills, and some are preparing for professional opportunities. What they all find is a supportive environment where growth is encouraged and achievements are celebrated. Scott’s decades of experience, combined with his approachable teaching style, make learning both structured and enjoyable.

FROM THE STAGE
TO THE CLASSROOM.

Scott studied Jazz and Commercial Music at Vancouver Community College, where he built a strong foundation in both performance and music theory.

This education gave him a strong foundation in both performance and theory, shaping the well-rounded musician he is today. His career as a performer has included playing in a wide variety of ensembles—jazz combos, rock bands, blues groups, and big band orchestras—giving him firsthand knowledge of what it takes to adapt to different musical styles and settings. These experiences bring depth and real-world perspective into his lessons, allowing students to learn not just how to play, but how to make music in a way that connects with an audience.

 STRUCTURED FOR   EFFECTIVE LEARNING.

At Robertson Drum School, Scott believes that learning music should be exciting, encouraging, and accessible to everyone.

He acknowledges the diversity of learning styles and accommodates all levels—whether building technique from the ground up, mastering advanced rhythms, or preparing for performances and auditions. Lessons follow a structured progression, emphasizing essentials like timing, dynamics, and groove, while also incorporating repertoire, theory, and performance practice. Beyond drills and technique, Scott cultivates musical expression, creativity, and confidence at the drum kit. Students consistently leave with stronger skills, tangible progress, a sense of achievement, and the motivation to pursue further growth.
