Scott Robertson has dedicated much of his career to teaching and performing within the pipe band community, offering instruction that supports both individual players and full drum corps. Whether you’re just starting out, looking to strengthen your fundamentals, or preparing for competition, Scott provides the guidance and experience to help you grow as a pipe band drummer

 PRIVATE INSTRUCTION   FOR ALL LEVELS. 

Scott offers one-on-one lessons tailored to the unique needs and goals of each student.

His teaching emphasizes strong fundamentals—grip, stick control, and rudiments—while developing rhythm, timing,and ensemble awareness. Students also work on scorereading, precision playing, and sound quality, all with thegoal of building both technical skill and confidenceas snare drummers.

Scott’s approach combines technical training with practical application in the pipe band setting.

Students focus on developing solid stick control and sound quality, strengthening their rudiments and score work, and refining timing, dynamics, and overall musical expression. Lessons also emphasize sectional and full band awareness, ensuring that each drummer understands their role within the larger ensemble. Whether preparing for rehearsals, parades, or competitions, Scott helps students build the skills and confidence they need to perform at their best.

 CLINICS AND   WORKSHOPS. 

Scott also leads clinics and workshops for pipe bands, schools, and community groups. These sessions give drummers the opportunity to refine their skills in a group setting while learning to work together as a section and as a full corps. Topics may include:

  • Sectional training for snare, tenor, or bass

  • Full corps sessions on timing, balance, and ensemble sound

  • Hands-on group exercises and demonstrations

  • Customized content for competition preparationor performance goals

  • Traditional jazz workshops with Scott’s Swing Patrol band, which has delivered fully sponsored programs in schools. These introduce students to the roots of jazz drumming through live performance and interactive learning—always a huge success with teachers and students alike.
